Using word repetition to improve vocabulary

If you want to improve your vocabulary, an effective method is using word repetition. However, saying a word 3-4 times to yourself, as if you're memorizing a phone number, is not enough.

Studies have shown that for a word to be included in your vocabulary, you have to repeat it as many as 20 times. And sometimes you might think that you have really learned a word, but then you forget it in a few days. You can avoid this by practicing using the word several times in your daily conversations.

Improve vocabulary by word repetition

The first thing you have to do is to list down words that you want to add to your vocabulary. Go over your list everyday. Try to include the words in your conversations about 3 times a day. Once you've mastered a word, keep using it for about a week before erasing it from your word list. Soon your new words will be part of your everyday vocabulary.

Using Computer Software to practice repetition
